Body cast of a woman. This body cast, on display in Mobiles A Day in Pompeii exhibit, is of a young woman who fell while trying to escape the volcanic eruption.

Gold earrings. These exquisite earrings were recovered from beneath layers of volcanic debris in Pompeii. They will be on display in Mobile, January 12 June 3, 2007 as part of the exhibition A Day in Pompeii.

Fresco. A fresco depicting two women, used to decorate a home in Pompeii. Five frescoes, recovered from the ancient Roman city, will be on display in the Exploreums exhibit gallery January 12 June 3, 2007.

Gold bracelets. Two matching bracelets on display with the exhibition A Day in Pompeii. The simple design was very popular in the doomed city and is thought to be a creation of Roman goldsmiths of the first century A.D.

Castra Romana 1. Roman Legion re-enactors, wearing historically correct armor and uniforms, will set up camp across from the Gulf Coast Exploreum, February 3 and 4, 2007, in Mobile. Known as Castra Romana, this living history tableau is organized by the Exploreum to complement the international exhibition A Day in Pompeii.
Castra Romana 2. During Castra Romana, recreation of a Roman Legion encampment, Legion soldiers will live, eat and sleep in tents, demonstrate combat skills, marching drills and show what life was like for a typical soldier of Imperial Rome. In downtown Mobile, February 3-4, to complement the exhibition A Day in Pompeii.
Man holding cloth to mouth. Pompeii is perhaps most famous for the body casts of the victims of the Vesuvius eruption. Eight will be displayed in Mobile with the exhibition A Day in Pompeii. The photo is of the cast of a man who died sitting with his back to a wall and knees drawn up.

Statue of Aphrodite. This small statue of Aphrodite originally stood in a garden of a great villa of Pompeii. The statue is among over 250 objects to be shown during the exhibit A Day in Pompeii in Mobile, January 12 June 3, 2007.
