Bonus Feaures offered at the Exploreum --- included with exhibit admission

Acoustiguide audio tour
Two tours are available; an adult tour led by experts and a family tour guided by two of Pompeii’s residents. The audio tour of A Day in Pompeii is made possible in part by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, a state program of the National Endowment of the Humanities.

Virtual Tour of Pompeii
Offered in the Exploreum’s Hearin-Chandler Virtual Journeys Theater, one floor above the Pompeii exhibit gallery.

Here, through the magic of digital technology, visitors take a virtual stroll through an area of Pompeii reconstructed by archeologists to appear as it might have before the city’s destruction. Highlighted are the Triangular Forum, the city’s large theater and the Temple of Isis. Only the Exploreum’s state-of-the-art, 40-seat digital theater reproduces images in such color and detail that audiences feel they are actually there. Many will remember the impact of the tour of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, offered during The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition.
